Together

Ibiza is home to many of the world’s biggest clubs and many of them enjoy one or two flagship parties, Amnesia, however, can boast a huge event almost every night. After the adventures of Cocoon last night, the famous old venue has just enough time to dust herself down and go again as Together rills into town. Together delivers one of the most eclectic line up’s on the island on a regular basis and tonight is no different, Eric Prydz returns to the Amnesia Terrace, Skrillex headlines the main room and there is also a live performance from Public Enemy, all under the one rook. Only in Ibiza!

We arrive at Amnesia just after midnight, early for a club in Ibiza but we’re keen to get in and have a look around before everything kicks off. The main room is where most of the early action is taking place, the elevated DJ booth is light up and Pendulum delivers a thumping DJ set, complete with MC, towering over the main room floor, commanding the ever increasing army to get involved. We take a wander around to check on the terrace and the stage is set at one end, opposite the DJ booth, waiting the arrival later of one of the world’s biggest and most controversial rap acts, Public Enemy. Ibiza has the habit of throwing together unlikely pairings and tonight is no different. To be honest, it works perfectly in Amnesia, while you can get between rooms with relative ease, once in a room, you are completely oblivious to what’s going on in the other room, it could be two separate clubs.

Back in the main room and things are beginning to hot up, the floor is full, the tempo has picked up and the atmosphere is building. The dancers have now taken their place along the podium adding glamour to the already electric atmosphere. It’s just gone two and Public Enemy are due to take the stage next door so back we go. I was never a huge Public Enemy fan if I’m honest and Flavor Flav’s antics on reality TV have done nothing to change that but the Terrace is packed and buzzing. One of the biggest rap acts of all time is about to take the stage and the magnitude of the situation is not lost on anyone. With a crowd of fists in the air to meet him, Chuck D bursts onto the stage and the Terrace erupts. Public Enemy proceed to smash there way through their back catalogue, with Chuck D and Flavor Flav at the forefront.

Back in the main room and Zane Lowe has taken control of the mic and the decks and runs through a typically high charged, polished performance, whipping the crowd into a frenzy at the anticipated imminent arrival of Skrillex. As the diminutive figure takes to the elevated booth, the main room explodes, Skrillex is one of the hottest properties on the music scene right now and his set is made for a stage like Ibiza. He proceeds to take the main room on a high tempo, white-knuckle ride that they will remember for a long time. Tuesday night in Amnesia is not for the feint hearted but if you love electronic music, it one that you can’t afford to miss.
