Punta Arabi Hippy Market Opens

Wednesday Aril 2 sees the first hippy market of 2014 at Punta Arabi, from 10.00am until 18.00hrs. The hippy market is a bucket list entry for numerous travellers heading to the island, the cool vibe, the amazing array of hand made crafts and the special memento that can be picked up. The hippies have been at the heart of the Ibiza artisan scene for decades, providing a creative core for an island that is blessed with an array of talented individuals, the support and love that the community shows to its creative souls results in a thriving market culture. Wednesday April 2 sees the first market of the new season and to celebrate there will be love performances from Jon Mitchell trio at the ‘La Carpa’ tent from 14.00H, Azibi wil play ‘Painters Square’ and the Benidrums at the entrance, adding a real carnival feel to the market.

Live musical performances will be held every Wednesday of the season between 14.00 – 16.00 in the multicultural tent, where well known talent from the island will be joined by UK talent on the island specifically to perform. Music and art is intrinsically linked in Ibiza, it’s a match made in heaven and one that makes a visit to the hippy market a real day out. Late May sees the market hold its inaugural kids corner, where they can create their own souvenir of their time at the hippy market or join other ‘hippy kids’ in workshops while you parents can relax at the snack bar. There is also a plan to host a photo exhibition from Barcelona based photographer that produced a documentary on the 70’s hippy era on the island and in particular the market at Punta Arabi.
