The Hippy Market at Punta Arabi celebrates its 43 year in 2016 with the slogan ‘#behappybehippy’. The oldest and largest Ibiza hippy market offers an authentic vibe and a place to discover some of the fantastic home made island products. April 6 is the date for the first market of the season, opening at 10am and running until 18.00. There is a live performance from Jodie Kean & Mai Brittain from 13.30 in the multicultural tent and between 13.30 and 15.30 they will serve home made paella on the terrace of the restaurant grill.
With over four decades of experience, the Punta Arabi Hippy market is one of the beast known on the island, popular with tourists and locals alike, offering over 500 stalls that feature a range of island based craftsmen and women. With multicultural concerts and workshops and activities for the kids, it really is a day out for all the family. From May 18 the kids area will offer interesting workshops for the little ones, giving them a chance to design their own tee shirt as well as recycling workshops teaching valuable lessons. Located in front of the graffiti wall get involved with the fantasy make up and enjoy a day full of surprises.
Ibiza has a rich tradition of attracting creative souls, offering an inspirational as well as accepting environment in which to flourish. The island has an almost magnetic pull for artists, with many landing from all over the world and choosing to make it home. The result is a thriving local Artisan scene, one where art, fashion and jewellery are just some of the benefactors. Many of the fantastic products that come from the island came be found and bought at Punta Arabi Hippy Market and the happiness and positivity that flows through every stall is infectious, making it an amazing day out. You can even see some of the products being made in the street of the artisans.
