Gypsy Westwood is one of Ibiza’s most celebrated photographers. She has a unique understanding of the island and an ability to capture it through her images. She is the island’s go to wedding photographer but is equally at home delivering portraits and many other disciplines.
A child of Ibiza, Gypsy was born into a creative family, father Rod Westwood is a revered photographer while mother Jenny Macrae a talented clothes designer. Schooled on the island until 1988, when she moved to Richmond to attend secondary school, Gypsy would spend her summer vacation back on the island she loved. Her further education led her to Richmond Tertiary College, Chelsea Art College and Middlesex University, where she gained a degree in Fine Arts, specialising in photography.
She met her husband Hayden Trethewy at University in London before heading off travelling for a couple of years, on their way back from their trip they decided to stay in Ibiza and haven’t left the island since, except for a winter skiing in Val d’Isere. Gypsy and Hayden married in 2007 and still live and work successfully on the island, Gypsy with her beloved photography and Hayden with his bar/ restaurant Aura.
