Antz hosts a weekly party in Aura called Dantz and is a popular choice
for some of the islands more high profile private parties. His unique,
eclectic style was honed in London’s cooler clubs in the late eighties
and early nineties and developed over time living on the island.
What is it about Ibiza that makes it so special?
It’s a place that is mostly inhabited by pirates of one sort or another
– and if you have a piratical nature you feel at home, it caters for the
slightly different!
Does Ibiza still play a role in breaking a new tune?
The international influx to Ibiza each summer still bears a huge
influence on new tunes reaching a global audience. Partygoers hear a
tune in a club and break it to their friends back home who weren’t lucky
enough to be there themselves. As well as this, DJs with summer
residencies here play other destinations taking the tunes from the
island with them.
How important is Ibiza to the building of a global club brand?
If you’re talking about club venues, then you only need look at Pacha to
see how successful building a brand and expanding it globally can be.
Looking at individual DJ’s/club nights, Ibiza can certainly accelerate
success and many DJ’s have enjoyed the influence Ibiza carries.
Describe your first Ibiza experience?
If only I could remember it! Well Alfredo in Amnesia dancing by the
pyramid
Away from the club how do you relax on the island?
I’ve just joined the golf club! Keeps me out of trouble!
Which is your favourite beach?
Xuclar on the Portinatx road, still a hidden gem and the Chiringuito is
wicked for fish.
What are you listening too chilling on the beach?
You can’t beat a bit of Jon SaTrinxa.
You’ve got a night off, where do you head for food?
In the summer there’s so much to choose from. Aura’s garden restaurant
is a beautiful spot and you don’t even need to leave to party, just step
inside to the club – I’ll see you there on Friday nights for Dantz. El
Chiringuito and Amante are great venues overlooking the ocean and the
food is delicious at both.
Name three essential items needed to survive your Ibiza trip?
Stamina, a healthy bank account and a hug when you get home!

Where to start! It never fails to surprise you and just when you think
you’ve seen it all
