Black Coffee
The Ibiza rumour-mill is rampant at this time of year, with who will be
playing where normally at the top of the list, however, since the much
publicised closure of Space, what would be taking its place has been a
topic of conversation since the end of last summer. That curiosity was
satisfied recently with the announcement of the opening of brand new
venue H IBIZA, from the Ushuaa group and now, the mystery of who will
play there has started to unravel with the first residency announcement.
South African DJ/ producer Black Coffee will take on his first Ibiza
residency, taking over the Saturday night slot from June 3, for 18
weeks.
Winner of the Best Deep House DJ at 2016’s DJ awards ceremony, Black
Coffee is no stranger to the Ibiza club crowd. He has made a series of
spectacular appearances in credible island booths, winning an army of
fans along the way. A graduate of the 2003 Red Bull Academy, Black
Coffee has been a driving force in the dance scene in South Africa for
well over a decade, only relatively recently making an impact globally
but what an impact it has been. From Sydney to Sao Paolo, he has
conquered international stages, delivering his unique take on a house
journey to countless clubbers. From hosting a twelve-hour party marathon
with a 24-piece orchestra, to collaborating with Alicia Keys, Hugh
Masekela, Victor Ntoni and Bui Mholongo to breaking the 100,000 copies
sold barrier of his latest long player ‘Pieces Of Me’, Black Coffee is
one of the genuine all round talents around today.
