Just when you think that training can’t get any harder, Brian decides
to step things up with DTP/ HIIT. As I write this I am struggling to
type with the fatigue after the session so I have decided to use a blog
Brian published earlier on the subject…
HIIT
High Intensity Interval Training is the best way to strip fat fast!
Starting off. Get on a treadmill, cross trainer or stationary bike and at
a high level walk or slow jog for around 3-4 min to warm up the body. Now
pump up the speed to the highest point that you can go, pushing yourself
at full intensity for 60 Seconds, then slowly bring it back to a slow jog
or fast walk for 90 seconds.
Why?
Running/Cycling/Skipping etc. is performed at such an intense level that
your body will spend the rest of the day expending energy to recover from
the ass-kicking you gave it. This is referred to as EPOC (excess
post-exercise oxygen consumption) which means that you consume a great
deal more oxygen recovering from the exercise sprint than you would have
if you’d just done a low boring effortless exercise.
With HIIT training you will be burning up to nine times more fat while
sitting on the couch later that night than you would have if you’d spent
an hour on the treadmill at a moderate pace.
Obviously, I am talking about intense training. There is no messing about
when it comes to HIIT. You will need to push yourself out of that comfort
zone you have gotten used to and really challenge yourself. If you are
willing to do this, however, I can guarantee that you will spend less than
half the time you usually do on those machines and get much leaner in the
process.
